ALLGATE / DEVELOPER WORKFLOW GUIDE

LLM token cost calculator for your API budget.

Estimate token-based LLM API costs by separating input tokens from output tokens. The calculator below uses available chat models and their current public rates. Change the token volumes to compare a monthly workload, then use the sample-request estimate as a smaller unit of reference.

01 / WORKFLOW

Count input and output separately

Input tokens include the prompt and context submitted to the model; output tokens cover the generated answer. Repeated conversation history can increase later request input. Use tokenizer or usage data appropriate to the selected model rather than converting characters to tokens with a universal ratio. An estimate based on a short demo prompt will not represent a long production conversation.

02 / WORKFLOW

Apply the published rate and its unit

For a model quoted per million tokens, the base estimate is input tokens × input rate ÷ 1,000,000 plus output tokens × output rate ÷ 1,000,000. The existing calculator uses the gateway’s integer micro-credit ceiling arithmetic for its displayed estimate. The visible rates are public model rates; an account-specific effective quote can differ because of applicable pricing terms.

03 / WORKFLOW

Turn request estimates into a workload budget

Estimate request volume, average context and typical answer length from representative usage. Compare models with the same workload assumptions, then allow room for long conversations and repeated retrieval context. Separate experiments from recurring application traffic. Check account usage after launch and revise the budget using observed input and output, rather than treating this calculation as a settled invoice.

Check models and current availability

These entries come from the public catalogue build snapshot. A listing does not guarantee endpoint capability or continuing supply. For audio, verify synthesis or transcription support separately. Open a model to check its exact ID, settings and billing unit.

Costs and workflow limits

This calculator is for chat models priced per million tokens. Image counts, video seconds, speech characters, per-request charges, model-specific options and any additional billed usage need their own published units. The estimate is not a prepaid balance guarantee. Review current pricing and your applicable account quote before sending requests.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Before you integrate

How do I calculate cost per million tokens?
Multiply input and output counts by their respective per-million rates, divide each by one million and add them. Account terms and request-level rounding can affect settlement.
Does the calculator send an API request?
No. It computes a local estimate from the displayed model rates and token volumes. It does not generate model output or consume model usage.
Can I use this for video or speech costs?
Use the billing unit published for that model instead. Seconds, images, requests and characters cannot be substituted for chat token counts.
